He is the senior Royal whose Lothario lifestyle has earned him the nickname Prince Andrew The Playboy.
And over the 19 years since his divorce from Sarah Ferguson, the Duke of York has been linked to a string of high-profile glamorous women, including a former Playboy model, Courtney Love, reality TV star Caroline Stanbury and Koo Stark – who appeared in a racy film, assuring his antics were never far from the headlines.
However, the latest allegations to hit Prince Andrew are the most serious yet – and have rocked the Palace to its core.
The 54-year-old, who is fifth in line to the throne, was on a skiing holiday with Sarah, with whom he has remained close friends since their split, and their youngest daughter Princess Eugenie, when it was claimed he had sex with an under-age girl. Allegations which have been emphatically rebutted by the Buckingham Palace.
The extraordinary claim was made by Virginia Roberts as part of a US civil case against the US Government over the prosecution deal with his friend and convicted paedophile billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, who was jailed in June 2008 for soliciting an underage girl for prostitution.
Roberts, now a 30-year-old mother-of-three, claims Prince Andrew had sex with her when she was 17 – a minor under US law – and employed as a ‘sex slave’ and ‘procured’ for the royal by shamed businessman Epstein.

Former childhood friends, Andrew and ‘Fergie’ turned their friendship into romance after the royal broke up with his first love, Koo Stark, in 1980.
He met Koo on a blind date after his return from the Falklands War in 1982 and was apparently captivated by her blue eyes.
They holidayed in the royal favourite, the Caribbean island of Mustique, and she went to Balmoral to meet his family.
However, the love didn’t last. Prince Andrew had been serving as a helicopter pilot in the Falklands when he ended the relationship with Koo, real name Kathleen Dee-Anne Stark, now 58, in 1982.
The relationship came to an abrupt end when it was revealed the American actress had starred in a lesbian shower scene in a racy movie called Emily ten years before.
Responding to the scandal at the time, the Palace said: ‘We do not know if the Queen was aware of the girl’s acting career before she was invited to Balmoral.’
He moved his affections to flame-haired Sarah Ferguson, who he married in 1986, and with whom he had two daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.
Their marriage hit the rocks in 1991 and Sarah was pictured with another man while her husband was away on duty.
